LOVELAND, CO – DECEMBER 1, 2008 – Centerra will transform into a Winter Wonderland on Friday, December 5 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Marketplace at Centerra, located northwest of Interstate 25 and Highway 34 in Loveland. Staged on Fall River Drive (between Panera Bread and Noodles), this inaugural event will provide an opportunity for all community members to enjoy simple pleasures mixed with unique twists this holiday season.
Experience the wonder with your friends and family by taking a carriage ride throughout the Marketplace, listening to live performances by local choral groups, visiting Santa’s Workshop, and participating in an Ugly Sweater contest to add some humor to your hustle and bustle.
Centerra’s community tree will be sparkling with 1,000 LED lights, along with 1,500 other trees throughout the Centerra community. Don’t forget to stop by Santa’s workshop to decorate an ornament for the community tree. Centerra’s holiday community tree will be re-planted at the High Plains Environmental Center following the winter season.
The Winter Wonderland event unveils Centerra’s Santa Workshop and welcomes Ole Saint Nick for the first time. Stationed in Suite 169 at The Marketplace, Santa will be present to listen to all the wishes of those who were naughty and nice. Parents are invited to capture their child's special Santa moment with their own cameras or with the onsite photographer who will be offering two 5x7 prints for $15. Ornament and cookie decorating will keep your children busy in the Workshop.
Traditional and contemporary holiday melodies will ring through Centerra during the Winter Wonderland event featuring Thompson Valley High School String Group from 5-6 p.m. and the Loveland Choral Society from 6-7 p.m. Panera Bread will be outside providing hot beverages and sweets for purchase.
Following the live entertainment, Centerra invites you to dig deep in your closet vault to participate in its first Ugly Sweater contest occurring at 7 p.m. From glittery appliqués, jingle-jangle bobbles, to gaudy patterns and prints, participants are asked to wear their merriest flagrant sweater, compete for a special prize, and share in this fun new tradition.
Attendees to Winter Wonderland are also encouraged to participate in Centerra’s Winter Clothing Drive to benefit Loveland’s House of Neighborly Services. All new and gently-used coats, hats, gloves, sweaters and all other cold weather clothing will be collected at the event to be distributed to community members in need of staying warm throughout the winter season.
This event is free and open to the public, although carriage ride donations are encouraged. All proceeds will benefit the House of Neighborly Service. For more information about Winter Wonderland at Centerra, please visit www.centerracolorado.com.
